About the course

In recent years business continuity and organisational resilience has emerged as a major consideration for all organisations. Organisations have come to realise it is crucial to have a plan in place in the event they cannot operate under business as usual conditions. ISO 22301:2019 establishes a framework for identifying, assessing, responding to, and recovering from disruptive events to return to business as usual as quickly as possible.

Our Business Continuity course will give you an understanding of the role and requirements of ISO 22301: 2019 Security and resilience — Business continuity management systems — Requirements., including business impact analysis, integration with risk management, business continuity planning, disaster recovery, and more. 

This course is designed as an additional 2-day workshop that builds on the learning outcomes of the Integrated Management Systems Lead Auditor Course

This course has the equivalent of 16 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this course you will:

  • Understand how to identify and assess potential disruptive events
  • Undertake a business impact analysis, including multi-criteria assessment
  • Understand how to create a business continuity plan (BCP)
  • Determine controls for disruptive events, including detective, preventive, and recovery measures
  • Establish monitoring requirements, including testing and exercising of BCPs

    • Applying enterprise risk management to business continuity
    • Identifying and assessing disruptive events
    • Facilitating a business impact analysis

    • Resilience versus recovery
    • Exercising and testing business continuity
    • Monitoring business continuity performance
    • Application of ISO 22301

        Qualification

        Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Attainment which identifies the Exemplar Global competency below:

        • Exemplar Global BC – Business Continuity Management Systems

        Prerequisites

        There are no formal prerequisites for this course.

        This course is designed to build on the learning outcomes from the Integrated Management Systems Lead Auditor. However, completion of Integrated Management Systems is not required to gain a full understanding of the Business Continuity Workshop.

        Assessment

        Throughout the course, you will complete a series of workshops which form part of the assessment. A short multiple-choice exam at the completion of each module assesses the knowledge and understanding gained throughout the training. You will receive continual assistance and feedback from the trainer, and are given anecdotal examples of real world audit situations.

        No homework or take-home assessment.

        Prior experience in auditing and management systems is not essential.
