Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this course you will:

• Understand how to identify and assess potential disruptive events
• Undertake a business impact analysis, including multi-criteria assessment
• Understand how to create a business continuity plan (BCP)
• Determine controls for disruptive events, including detective, preventive, and recovery measures
• Establish monitoring requirements, including testing and exercising of BCPs

• Terms related to Business Continuity
• Applying enterprise risk management to business continuity
• Identifying and assessing disruptive events
• Facilitating a business impact analysis

Day 2 

• Building a business continuity plan
• Resilience versus recovery
• Exercising and testing business continuity
• Monitoring business continuity performance
• Application of ISO 22301

Qualification

Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Attainment which identifies the Exemplar Global competency below:

• Exemplar Global BC – Business Continuity Management Systems

Prerequisites

There are no formal prerequisites for this course.

This course is designed to build on the learning outcomes from the Integrated Management Systems Lead Auditor. However, completion of Integrated Management Systems is not required to gain a full understanding of the Business Continuity Workshop.

Assessment

Throughout the course, you will complete a series of workshops which form part of the assessment. A short multiple-choice exam at the completion of each module assesses the knowledge and understanding gained throughout the training. You will receive continual assistance and feedback from the trainer, and are given anecdotal examples of real world audit situations.

No homework or take-home assessment.

• Want to establish a business continuity management system
• Develop an understanding of the risk-based approach to management systems within organisations

• Are managers responsible for their management system

Prior experience in auditing and management systems is not essential.

Study Pathway – Where to from here?

If you wish to become a registered third-party, or external Quality, Environmental, OH&S, or Integrated Management Systems auditor with Exemplar Global, you will need to complete the Becoming a Skilled Lead Internal/External Auditor course, along with at least one discipline (Quality, Environmental, OH&S, or Food Safety) available in either our:

• Integrated Management Systems Lead Auditor course
• Food Safety Management Systems Lead Auditor course
• Information Security Management Systems Lead Auditor course
